Yesterday I was actually in bed staring at the wall for a couple of hours in the morning and the afternoon.
I do however have a strange and persistent right sided pain. Unfortunately, I am on a 30/30 split dose. I find that when I take it and am not in bed, I am up doing stuff around the house and don't remember it the next morning.
WIDE Awake. :) It also should only be taken for short periods of time as the Food and Drug Administration has expressed some concern about its effects on the liver. It's like all of the sudden around 2 pm my body gets heavy and I have to just lay down and stop. So, that wasn't working. They gave me a script
If I don't have the Ambien I take Benedryl. I am wondering if anyone's doctor has given them sleep aids to help with prednisone related insomnia?
Works like a charm for me. I've even replied to a few emails and not remembered. Mixed results with the Ambien... (6.25mg) I woke up fully awake after 2.5 hours. Has anyone had leg pain taking Ambien?
2-3 hours when I first attempt to sleep at night. Peety, I would say I have been taking the "don't fight it" approach up until this point.
I would get up and watch some TV. Dear Dr. Roach • I have a medical condition that currently requires me to take 60 mg of prednisone per day, resulting in insomnia. While there is currently no treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, a drug called Aricept can temporarily ease the symptoms for a short period of time. It might not hurt to try melatonin as well. People with liver conditions should not take Kava.Melissa Lind holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. We can't sleep together because my waking up all the time wakes my husband up, and then he doesn't get any sleep either. I didn't have to be up in the morning so I took another. When I was on the pred I took ambien. The first few days I was taking all 60mg in the morning and by 1-2 in the morning I was awake and on the toilet with "kill me now!!!"
The body heals when it sleeps. The prednisone has caused me lack of sleep." It works as a corticosteroid by blocking some of the body’s response to inflammation but can have side effects including insomnia.
I have a very hard time getting sleep at night as well.
Avoiding caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine in the four to six hours before bedtime.
I feel tired but my mind does not shut down and go to sleep.
I would break the pill in half and it seemed to work. 2-3 hours when I first attempt to sleep at night. Are you fighting it?
Now that it's been 3 weeks of the lack of sleep I just physically can't do that any more. I would get a lot done during those times and never felt tired, simply didn't need the sleep! Maybe an hour nap in the afternoon.
Benedryl/Tylenol PM make me crawl out of my skin (which the prednisone ALREADY does) - and I am wary of the class of drugs to which Ambien belongs.
A psychologist said to me that bed is for only two things: sleep and sex. Thanks Subdued, I am going to check it out!
Took some tylenol, and fell asleep again an hour later, slept 3 hours and bing!
My sleep patterns are so completely screwed up at the moment that I really feel like it is hampering my recovery. i'm having trouble sleeping while on prednisone.
I get approximately five hours of sleep per night. writhing in agony pain and poop until my dose at 7am. The fatigue I'm experiencing is unreal and very unhealthy... and I think that the time during a real night sleep when the digestive system slows down is a big part of healing!
According to “Prescription for Herbal Healing,” it should not be taken by those who commonly experience migraine headaches.
My doc prescribed Ativan, which is a small step up from Xanax. lol wish me luck... :o)
It is a primary ingredient in beer brewing but can also be used as a supplement to induce calmness or help combat insomnia. I got valium which helped! That way you don't have to wait for a prescript My doctor is not big on overprescribing medications but I hadn't gotten a decent nights sleep in a week or two and I was starting to get very frustrated.
I typically take 2 benedryls and a melatonin and it's just enough to get me to sleep. For us, the pred saved his life, so getting up in the night seemed a small price to pay.
Then, I woke up again 2 hours later with leg pain! Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory drug available only by prescription.
